“I wasn’t doing very much with my life. No job, no plan & no support”

Fast forward 12 months and Ryan has completed his Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship with Wates Construction and but for a ridiculous commute, would have been moving into a full-time role with them. He does however, come out of the placement with a proper qualification and a set of new experiences and skills that have set him up for the next stage of his career really well.

Getting the apprenticeship forced Ryan to get into a schedule/routine – this made him feel as though he was doing something with his life. He felt happier. For example, at the start Ryan took a few days off because he was tired – over time, he changes his habits and was able to get into a good routine which made him feel better day-to-day.

We spoke to Ryan this week about his K10 experience.

“My confidence has increased, I’ve totally come out of my shell and it’s because I’ve been given a responsibility. Waking up on time and being part of something has brought that and building friendships and work relationships has developed me further. I feel more confident socially, and confident with myself. I never felt I could properly state my opinion in front of a group of people but now I’m happier doing this and know that I have a bit of knowledge and experience to back it up now. You don’t realise how important these little things are”

“My colleagues at Wates were so helpful and supportive and I’d like to make a special mention to James at K10 and In Training who were always there for me and gave me the ‘leg up’ I needed. I’m not sure right now what the next stage in the chapter is but I know I’m more equipped than ever for it. Bring it on”

Well done Ryan from all at K10, In Training & Wates.
