Lauren Squires joined K10 just over a year ago and certainly goes down as one of our most determined and assured apprentices to date. Although it wasn’t always like that. When she first left college, she had no idea what she wanted to do. She was feeling a bit over-powered by all the potential options with nothing clear coming to mind. She decided to explore apprenticeships to give her an opportunity to take a step in to the Business Admin sector in a way that gave her more of an overview and general approach rather than an immediate specific role.
12 months on, Lauren has secured a full-time role with Wates Construction and couldn’t be surer of the steps she’s taken and the position she finds herself in now.

The experience with K10 and Wates has made me feel empowered more than ever to go and make it happen. James was always available if I needed anything at K10 and the team at Wates couldn’t have been more welcoming but the thing that stands out for me is that, even with all that support, you have to be hungry and make it happen for yourself. I’ve always been pretty determined as a person but the apprenticeship experience has pushed me to go that bit further.
My salary has gone up by more than double from 12 months ago so I’m going to get myself a new car to celebrate!”
