Top Award For K10 Walthamstow Stadium Apprentice

Apprentice recognised with award for outstanding work at L&Q’s Walthamstow Stadium construction site.

Billy Caney, 24, from Highams Park, Waltham Forest, has won Best Overall Performer from construction apprenticeship training and placement agency, K10, in its annual apprentice awards. Caney won the top prize out of 175 apprentices for his professionalism and commitment. He was nominated by his supervisors from both K10 and the construction arm of L&Q, Quadrant Construction, for which he has worked for six months at its Walthamstow Stadium development. His training has included Principles of Manual Handling, Health and Safety, Fire Safety Awareness. He is in the process of gaining a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (Technical certificate, functional skills and NVQ), for which he attends college every Friday. Caney is one of 16 apprentices that L&Q employs through K10 as well as 51 elsewhere in its supply chain and 18 apprentices directly on its L&Q Apprenticeships programme.

Billy Caney, winner of Best Overall Performer at the K10 Apprenticeship Awards, said: “I would just like to thank K10 for this award. It was good to be recognised and I really appreciate it as it has motivated me further. Many thanks.”

Jack Speckman, K10’s Senior Apprenticeship Manager and Billy Caney’s supervisor, said: “Billy is a real asset to his team and is always keen take on a new task and help out wherever he can. He has proved himself to be highly dedicated, a diligent worker and a quick learner. His bubbly personality and great work ethic have made him a great apprentice to work with. We would also like to congratulate all of the apprentices who were recognised in some way at our apprenticeship awards and praise them for their great work over the last year.”
