Callum Keavey
Age: 21
Trade: Plumber
Borough: Waltham Forest
Apprenticeship: Level 2 Plumbing Systems
Background: Prior to starting his apprenticeship with K10, Callum was working part time doing basic plumbing with a property maintenance company alongside looking for an apprenticeship.
What happened next: Callum was brought in to K10HQ for an interview and sailed through with ease. He was then put forward to start his Plumbing Apprenticeship in his home borough of Waltham Forest with Bellway Homes.
During the Apprenticeship: Callum was enrolled onto a Level 2 Plumbing Studies apprenticeship and spent his entire time on site with Bellway Homes. ‘What I most enjoyed about my apprenticeship was being on site every day, knowing I was closer to becoming a qualified plumber, it was also nice meeting new people and knowing I would be earning a good wage doing something I en
joyed, it made it all worth it. The subcontractor I was with, C&C plumbing were really good. They weren’t a massive team so it allowed me to have loads to do and enabled me to learn more. I really enjoyed the whole of my apprenticeship, never a dull day. Jack, my Apprenticeship Manager, was so good, he would call to check up on us, if we had any issues, we could tell him. One time all of our tools were stolen so he gave us £100 extra to compensate so we could buy new ones. K10 in general were such a good company to work for because they work to help get you qualified. They are the reason I was able to get qualified and why I am in a good job now’.
After the Apprenticeship: Callum is now working for 21st Century Contracts as a plumbing improver and is on a smashing £130 a day.
‘Callum was brilliant during his time with us. He worked hard and always had a positive outlook on things, which is probably why all of his fellow workers held him in such high regard. I wish him all the best for the future, I’m sure I’ll give him a call if I ever need the plumbing sorted in my house!’ – Jack Speckman, Senior Apprenticeship Manager
