Mohema Begum

Age: 24

Trade: Business Administrator

Borough: Tower Hamlets

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Business Administration

College: InTraining

Background: Prior to Mohema starting her apprenticeship, she was unemployed. She explained that she struggled to find a serious job that had good career prospects due to her not having the relevant qualifications.

What happened next: Mohema came into the K10 office and particularly impressed her Apprenticeship Manager Jack and was then put forward to start her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. She was put on site in her home borough of Tower Hamlets with Linden Homes on site at St Clements Hospital.

During the Apprenticeship: Mohema said ‘I really enjoyed working in my home borough. Working in construction was all very new to me but I was always comfortable and felt very welcome. It was an interesting experience for me as it allowed me to work alongside attaining a qualification to back up all I was doing. The team I worked with were what made me feel so welcomed which is what enabled us to work together making us such a virtuous team especially since I always had support from my managers. The college I was placed with was InTraining. I was so pleased with my assessor Marlene! She was so supportive and always patient with me as she understood I had work to as well as completing the theory element and always gave me the backing I really needed to complete; I learned a lot more than I ever thought I would’. Mohema then went on to say ‘K10 gave me an opportunity I was looking for, something that enabled me to progress into a better line of work and now I am on a better salary than I would’ve been without them’

After the Apprenticeship: Mohema has since been taken on direct by Linden Homes and spends part time on St Clements Hospital and part time at Linden’s Head office in Chelmsford as an Administrator with a current salary of £22k.

‘Mohema was always an extremely hard working and reliable apprentice during her time with K10. She impressed everyone with how enthusiastic she was about working in construction and is certainly a role model for other apprentices coming through. A pleasure to work with and I wish her all the best for the future.’ Jack Speckman.
