We caught up with our 2014 Award winners to see where they are now and how the apprenticeship has helped them….

Most Valuable Player – Hollie Bennett – Assistant Site Manager

Hollie was taken on by her host employer – Laing O’Rourkes – before completing the apprenticeship. She has since gone on to finish her qualification and will be enrolling on an HNC in January; she is still with LOR and has tripled her salary since starting.

Best Site Performer – Khairi Harwood-George – Plumber

Khairi was taken on by his host employer – JS Wright – before completing. He is currently on track to complete his apprenticeship early next year.

Best College Performer – Daniel Jones – Painter & Decorator

Daniel completed his apprenticeships and was employed directly by his host employer – M Donovan.

Best Attendance – Ryan Christie – Carpenter

Ryan is still a K10 apprentice, working on the same site – Woodberry Down – and the same host employer – South Eastern Carpentry. He is due to complete his apprenticeship in September 2016.

Most Improved Apprentice – Harvey Pearce – Dry Liner

Harvey did not complete his apprenticeship due to financial issues. He was offered an engineering job with Morrison’s Utility Services which he felt he was unable to turn down; he is still working with Morrison’s Utility Services as an engineer. He has completed numerous certificates and short courses to enable him to progress further; he is now earning FIVE times as much as he was when he started.
