Aaron Daley
Age: 21
Trade: Carpentry
Apprenticeship: Level 2 Site Carpentry
Home Borough: Hackney
Background:
Before starting his apprenticeship at K10, Aaron was studying carpentry at college and helping out his dad on his days off. His tasks would include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and kitchen fitting. Aaron contacted K10 as he wanted to complete an apprenticeship that would go hand in hand with his college work.
During the apprenticeship:
‘I really enjoyed being on site as it allowed me to get loads of experience relating not only to my carpentry course, but also general experience. It was all very valuable experience and knowledge I will take on with me in the future. Berkeley and Landmark really helped me when I needed it, especially when it came to gathering evidence for my coursework. If I didn’t have work, they would provide it, and understood that it was for both our benefits for me to get as much experience as possible. We had weekly meetings to discuss our progress on the project and the next set of tasks. I got a pay rise after six months due to the work I was doing on site, which felt amazing!’
‘It is important as an apprentice to remember, there will be lows during the course but stick with it, the hard work pays off and the result is amazing.”
“K10 were so good to me during my time here. Jack, my Apprenticeship Programme Manager, was always responsive and helpful. K10 have allowed me to pave a new way of life for myself. I feel I am able to do bigger and better things now having achieved an NVQ. And thanks to K10, I am now going into employment with a subcontractor I was previously on site with.’
