Lendlease were able to arrange a tour for our current traineeship students at their Google site in Kings Cross. The Tour was conducted by their Construction Manager, Dave Jones. We had 15 trainees attend the tour, who were all very greatful for the experience.
The focus of the tour was the ‘Google Landscraper’ site, and just how major this particular project is. This is one of the largest sites in the whole of London, and upon completion, this will be the European headquaters for Google. There was also a focus on what has happening internally, for example, the students were given a tour of the groundwork taking place, and the work taking place in the basement. Dave also gave a detailed explanation in regards the jobs taking place on site, and all the saftey procedures in place. After the tour, the students were able to have a Q&A Session with Dave. Many of our Students found this part of the day particularly insightful, due to the fact that Dave told his own story in regards his path into Construction.
One of our students said “I felt really motivated after hearing Dave’s story, and seeing such a big project in action made me want get on site even more!”
Here’s what our Traineeship Programme Manager, Cathal Geragthy, had to say about the tour:
What a great opportunity be one of the few to step inside and see one of London’s future Iconic buildings, history in the making. A Brilliant experience had by all at the site tour of the new Google Headquarters, Thanks to Lendlease for a great tour with a wealth of information’
Overall, this was an unforgettable experience for everybody involved. Lendlease did a great job of what the students could expect when the eventually go on site, whilst also showing the students how major this project is.
