Meet Kyle!

He’s progressing toward completion of his Site Management apprenticeship this summer with LIFEBUILD on the Network Homes project in Hounslow. Despite limited construction experience, Kyle’s impressive attitude, professionalism and inquisitive nature secured him a spot in the program. Kyle is due to finish his course ahead of schedule and has already received an offer to join LIFEBUILD once he completes his studies, fulfilling his dream of a role in Site Management.

Since Kyle started with LIFEBUILD, he has shown good progress and a willingness to learn & improve.

Initially, Kyle knew little about the type of construction we were undertaking, but during his time on site he has gained a reasonable incite in to all the trades activities both with the heavy construction elements and the internal trades. After showing his knowledge of works and keeping on top of his weekly responsibilities, Kyle was then tasked with supervising the labourers and ensuring that they are on track with work, maintain a good standard of housekeeping, and overseeing the waste management requirements.

Kyle now carries out our inductions of new site operatives, examining site equipment and keeping a record of all inspections, holding Toolbox talks and researching the relevant subjects relevant to the activities on site and relating the do’s & don’ts to the site operatives, allowing all workers to remaining safe in the workplace.

Although he has a way to go in construction management, I am very pleased with his progress in this short time and confident with continued training, personal development and time spent on working sites he will develop into a good Construction manager.” – Shaun Rush, Project Manager, LIFEBUILD

Pursing an apprenticeship, in the construction industry has been a great way to gain hands-on experience and develop a wide range of skills and working alongside experienced professionals in the field.

I began by working as a general labourer for several different companies across London as well as working for a fire sprinkler installer for commercial properties in central London. I felt I had the skillset to enter management and found a vacancy with K10.

My eventual career goal is to be experienced and trained in the construction industry, by doing further courses to gain more qualifications. It would be a dream of mine, one day, to have my own building firm.

I would highly recommend and advise young people to do more research into apprenticeships as it’s a great way to gain hands on experience as well as getting qualifications needed while being paid.”  Kyle Stoneley, Apprentice Site Manager
